Exiled but unbroken—Afghanistan’s first all-female orchestra carries its legacy across continents.

Zohra Orchestra is a powerful documentary following the brave young musicians of the Afghan National Conservatory of Music after they are forced into exile in Portugal. As the Taliban returns to power, these girls—many still teenagers—carry with them not only instruments, but the weight of cultural preservation and personal survival.

The film captures their journey as they rebuild their lives in Europe while keeping Afghanistan’s musical heritage alive through practice, performance, and resilience. With a poetic lens and intimate access, the documentary celebrates the human spirit, the power of music, and the courage it takes to defy silence.
