Ancient recipes, forgotten manuscripts, and the artistry of Arab cuisine—revived one dish at a time.
Our Ancestors’ Dining Tables is a six-part documentary series that unearths the culinary history of the Arab world by reviving recipes from forgotten manuscripts once housed in the palaces of Baghdad, Aleppo, Cairo, and Andalusia. Each episode focuses on one rare manuscript and the story of the food it preserves—blending culinary recreation with visual storytelling, travel, and scholarly insight.
Shot across Europe and the Arab world, the series combines documentary, re-enactment, and food cinematography to explore the lost techniques, ingredients, and meanings behind historical Arab cuisine. It’s not just a food series—it’s a cultural excavation, a tribute to craftsmanship, and a modern revival of the Arab kitchen as an art form.
